A 19th-Century Cottage Reimagined | North Oxfordshire

Built in 1883 from locally quarried Hornton stone, this North Oxfordshire cottage embodies the timeless charm of rural English heritage. Perched above a rolling valley, the home retains its historic character while embracing refined modern living.

MIDA Interiors was commissioned to design and deliver a cohesive decorative scheme for the full renovation. Our approach balanced authenticity with innovation, introducing contemporary detailing, bespoke craftsmanship, and natural textures to reflect the creative, nature‑loving family who call it home.

For this North Oxfordshire Hornton stone cottage, MIDA Interiors was engaged to provide high‑end interior space planning and full bathroom and kitchen design. We reworked the internal layout of the new vaulted‑ceiling master suite to create a calm retreat with a Juliet balcony, ensuite bathroom and dedicated dressing area, and redesigned the family bathroom layout while retaining the original Jack and Jill access for practical family living.

Within the new oak lean‑to conservatory, we developed a cohesive interior scheme that enhances light, views and connection to the surrounding landscape, tying seamlessly into the adjoining living spaces. We also designed the new kitchen layout and specification in detail, creating a bespoke, hand‑built family kitchen that integrates high‑specification appliances discreetly behind refined joinery and restful blue and neutral tones.

The result is a set of luxury country interiors that respect the cottage’s heritage while supporting contemporary family life in the Cotswolds.
